About

Editorial standards

The editorial standards K-12 News follows: attribution, accuracy, corrections, AI use and treatment of students.

Source attribution

Every story names its original source organization and links to the source article. We never imply that K-12 News originally reported information that came from another organization.

Factual accuracy

Summaries report what the source says. We preserve original publication dates and do not add claims the source does not support.

Source material vs K-12 News analysis

News tells you what happened. Analysis tells you why it matters. Inspiration tells you what you could do with it. Analysis and Inspiration are labelled as K-12 News content and link back to the story they are based on.

Responsible use of AI

K-12 News uses AI tools internally to help classify stories, draft summaries and detect trends. AI output is constrained to published source material, and we do not publish AI-generated facts that are not supported by a source.

No fabricated quotations

We never invent quotations. Quotes appear only as published by the original source.

Students and minors

We do not create profiles of students or minors. The People directory lists adult professionals named in published stories only.

Labelling

Aggregated stories are marked as curated by the K-12 News Desk with their original source. Paid placements are always labelled Sponsored and never influence editorial selection.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly. See our corrections policy.
